Blackout Restaurant and Shisha Lounge

A Hookain Experience 

 On the 19^th of November 2020 around 10:40 pm, we visited a relatively new shisha lounge & restaurant down in Fitzroy Melbourne called Blackout Restaurant and shisha lounge as part of our Hookain shisha lounge reviews.

 This was our second-time smoking shisha at Blackout since there opening back in 2019, and from memory, the customer service was just as good as it was from our first visit.

The customer service at Blackout was outstanding; the waitress was prompt and polite and offered us complimentary drinks when items were unavailable.

 Let’s start with the shisha. It took around 12 minutes to receive our shisha and coal, which is a bit too long considering it wasn’t peaking at the time of our visit. We ordered a regular clay head of Al Fakher gum & mint. The waiter brought the shisha out, and after inspecting the shisha, we found it was spotless, the water was crystal clear, and a new disposable plastic hose was provided. All in all, the shisha was bloody good! The smoke produced was crazy, there was a full taste of gum & mint, and there was a little buzz. We 100% recommend smoking shisha at Blackout.

 The price of a regular head shisha will set you back $40, which is a bit overpriced for Melbourne, but I would say it was worth it.

 Unfortunate we can’t comment on the food as the kitchen was closed by 10:30 pm. However, Blackout does serve alcohol and have a happy hour between 6-9 pm.

 The choice of music was excellent, the volume wasn’t too loud, and they played a mix of rap, hip hop & RNB. The vibe at Blackout was chilled. It was a beautiful night, so we choose to sit outside with a traditional outdoor Melbourne street dining.

 The seating was decent, with a mix of lounges and chairs.

The venue is immaculate and spacious, the bathrooms are a bit old school and need renovating, the restrooms were semi-clean. They also have free games available for customers.

Our overall rating and experience for the blackout restaurant and shisha lounge hits 78 out of 100 which hits 4 out of 5 stars on our scale. We recommend Blackout for a shisha and a drink or two.
